The Wichita Symphony Orchestra presents ‘Defiance’ this weekend
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Wichita Symphony is presenting a night of classical music with “Defiance” Saturday at Century II Concert Hall.
Daniel Hege, music director and conductor of the Wichita Symphony, hopes the music will affect concertgoers in an emotional way.
The concert will open with Jessie Montgomery’s Overture, followed by Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 featuring American pianist Clayton Stephenson and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5.
“I think people can just go in there and expect to be moved and changed, like changed emotionally by the whole experience,” Hege said.
The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are still on sale.
“It’s going to be an incredibly exhilarating, exciting concert,” Hege said.
